Childcare center for employees -
-
"I-Kids" childcare center for employees
ITOCHU opened I-Kids, a childcare center for its employees near its Tokyo Headquarters, in January 2010. Given the recent lack of authorized nurseries in local communities which has created a situation in which employees are prevented from returning to work from childcare leave as well as changing circumstances both within and surrounding the Company, such as the increase in the number of female employees and working couples, ITOCHU decided to establish a nursery to minimize factors that might hinder employees from continuing their careers and to motivate employees to continue working. ITOCHU is actively working to enable more of our diverse workforce to stay and perform at their best, by offering an environment that encourages a focus on work with greater peace of mind.

Employee cafeteria -
ITOCHU has an employee cafeteria which can seat 850 in the first floor basement of its Tokyo Head Office building and a special cafeteria which can accommodate lunchtime and evening dining and dinner guests has also been completed. To mark the ITOCHU Health Charter announced in 2016, we set the target of creating a cafeteria which employees look forward to coming to and our cafeteria offers TFT (Table for Two) menus and an extensive range of healthy dishes to meet the various needs of employees. We also have a corner offering light meals and bento-type meals and a FamilyMart, which are easier to use if employees have limited time, thus offering employees a wide range of options.

Dormitory for unmarried managerial-track employees -
In April 2018, we opened the Hiyoshi Dormitory, with approximately 360 units, bringing together unmarried male employees who had been scattered across four locations in the Tokyo Metropolitan area. Whilst providing a comfortable living environment in which employees have their own private space, Hiyoshi Dormitory is a new type of dormitory based on the design concept “under the same roof.” Accordingly, the dormitory functions as a place for the "development of a human network vertically, horizontally and diagonally" and the "training of young employees," allowing residents to communicate in-depth with their peers and superiors through dormitory life and to freely discuss concerns and worries from the start of their working lives and learn about the business of other departments. The dormitory is aiming to create an environment in which employees voluntarily reform their work styles and improve their health based on corporate policies such as the morning-focused working system and health management. For example, compared with existing dormitories, it shortens commuting time to around 30 minutes, serves nutritionally balanced breakfasts and dinners in the cafeteria, and provides exercise opportunities in partnership with a nearby fitness club.
For unmarried managerial-track female employees, ITOCHU also offers two dormitories for female employees.

Health Management Office -
We have a Health Management Office at both our Tokyo Headquarters and Osaka Headquarters, allowing employees to be seen by an occupational health physician straight away through one internal phone call if they feel unwell, etc. A total of 20 or so occupational health physicians belong to our Health Management Offices and they also cover routine treatment which tends to be put off such as dental treatment.
We have also developed companywide systems for constantly helping employees to maintain and improve their health, such as providing all year round health screening and medical advice.
