High levels of motivation adds value to jobs

Why did you join ITOCHU?

Inspired by my father and touched by the affection alumni of my university working for ITOCHU have for their company, I decided to join.

My interest stemmed from my father who works in the same industry. From a young age, I watched my father going on business trips all over the world and enjoying his job despite being busy and this instilled in me a vague admiration for trading companies. When I was job hunting, I listened to my father talk about the business of a trading company and felt drawn to the proactive approach and free atmosphere of ITOCHU which I sensed through visits by alumni of my university working for ITOCHU. The fact that an overwhelming majority of employees hold the company in great affection was especially appealing to me, and I decided to join. I chose the administrative route because I felt I'm more suited to supporting those driving teams than standing on the frontline myself. Another decisive factor was that this work style would make it easier for me to balance work with life events.

What are you mindful of in your work?

Adding value to jobs through close communication

Whatever job I'm doing, I do the work with high levels of motivation so that I get the job done adding value only I can add and so that I can grow as a human being through the job. I'm grateful for an environment that allows me to enjoy doing jobs and for being allowed to take on various challenges and I want to do more than what I am being paid for. As a result, I'm always striving to achieve close communication with those around me. Since I'm the only administrative staff member in my section, I check every single detail to prevent omissions or misunderstandings which will lead to errors, and I try do do my work carefully and accurately.

What is your vision for the future?

Planning to take advantage of the morning-focused work system to achieve growth and long-term career goals

It's now five-and-a-half years since I joined the company and I'm now also up to speed with my work, giving me a bit more breathing space in terms of how I use my time, for example. Until last year, I was in charge of accounting and sales support within my section but starting this year I've been actively trying to broaden the scope of my work and take on work I've never done before such as the closing of the departmental accounts and joining a new business proposal team. Precisely because I now have a broader range of responsibilities, I plan to take advantage of ITOCHU's morning-focused work system and use the time after work for my only personal growth anvUntil last year, I was in charge of accounting and sales support within my section but starting this year I've been actively trying to broaden the scope of my work and take on work I've never done before such as the closing of the departmental accounts and joining a new business proposal team.d interests. If I learn how to work efficiently, I will also be able to balance between my work and my personal life. Many senior employees enjoy their work life and their personal life equally. Like them, I'd like to mold a career path in the long term through evolution of my workstyle.
