The selection period is a few days- This sense of speed gave me the impression of a corporate culture which is not afraid of challenge
During my university days, I used to organize fashion shows and music events. It amused me to provide opportunities for fellow students who had specialized skills, sponsors, and participating students to connect and create new value. Based on this experience, a trading company which generates business by connecting various people, goods and industries appealed to me. When I was job hunting, I took part in the recruitment process at many different companies including global companies. At ITOCHU, the entire process from the written process to the informal job offer was very quick, taking just a few days, and this sense of speed, decisiveness and energy gave me the impression of a company which would allow its employees to take on challenges without fearing failure. I refused all the informal job offers I'd received from other companies and joined ITOCHU.
Being professional and figuring out what I can do by myself and doing it
My goal is not to be content with the status quo but to continue delivering the value only I can provide, without fearing change. To achieve this, I aim to be professional at all times. To be professional, you need to gain a great deal of knowledge and skills including an in-depth understanding of industries, high levels of specialist knowledge, language skills and a higher perspective and to build relationships of trust with all those you deal with. In addition, it's important to constantly ask yourself what you can do to make this even better and what kind of value you can create. Once you establish what you want to do, then it's simply a matter of putting this into action. I tackle jobs with a determination not to be bound by existing common practices and conventions and to keep changing things.
Aim to be a driving force in the industry, bringing about transformation and involving those around me
I want to focus on work which interests me, constantly creating change and involving those around me. My job is to lead IT projects and I'm currently conducting a large project overseas with some 100 members. It used to be the norm to establish a project structure with Japanese staff but these days we bring together members from various countries such as the US, Germany, Australia, India and Vietnam to implement projects. New initiatives lead to positive results and going forward I want to continue being a driving force in the industry, bringing about transformation and being involved in exciting projects.
