(At the time of the interview)
I threw myself into ITOCHU's business to learn how to sell products
At university, I studied marketing and was interested in "how best to sell products." ITOCHU is a trading company that excels in consumer-related business and also wields great influence over the apparel sector. I joined ITOCHU thinking "I want to be responsible for dynamic business at this company and take care of the products I handle until they reach consumers." Now I belong to the Textile Company, which I wanted to join, and I am involved in the entire production process from the planning of apparel products to the selection of materials, weaving and delivery.
I create meaning in my work myself
Doing this over and over again turns you into a professional
I believe that all work-whatever it is-has meaning. Even work I'm ordered to do by my superiors presumably has an expected outcome and if I decide from the outset that the work has no meaning, I will never grow. Even if I find a job difficult the moment I'm given it, I interpret the instructions in my own way and find a way to do it and immerse myself in the job. If I do this, the job takes on meaning and I'm naturally motivated to do it. I also tackle jobs based on an awareness of "why I need to do this job" and "what I will achieve by accomplishing this job." The ability I have developed most since joining ITOCHU is the ability to understand the essence of things.
This business was my idea. At some point, I will proudly be able to tell people about it
Ever since I received by informal job offer, I have had a goal. That is to develop business by myself. At ITOCHU I want to do work that allows me to proudly say "I developed this business myself." Working for a company, we have to give something back to society through our work. As a general trading company which has drastically changed its business format in response to ever changing market conditions, we have the potential to conduct businesses which meet the needs of the times and I want to be someone who offers society a new business or added value. My goal is to do work about which one day I can say "this deal was my idea."
